In my opinion he is the greatest american of the 20th centrury. He did alot more than Reagan ever did. This is one of the few holidays I actually think is deserved.

And if the Road Warrior says it, it must be true..

the guy doesnt deserve "his day" he already has a million streets named after him. Thousands of Americans did a lot more than this guy, but they don't have a day named after them. This was simply a move to appease blacks because Washington, Lincoln etc have a day dedicated to them, and they are white.

No , I would not say you were racist....but honest. I would say that most people do not comprehend what normal people went through in the Civil Rights fight, let alone MLK. The people trying to keep the oppressed down were bad people, even though they were brainwashed. A little education and harmony would have eased the situation. God Bless Eisenhower or we would probably still have segregation in the United States, oops, I mean legal segregation, unlike what we have now, underground and unspoken segregation. Not that that is completely bad.

gotta disagree bro

If he didnt move ahead with his no violent beliefs there would have been another civil war...America is the greatest country because of how people no matter what race can have just as much rights as the next man

Without that we wouldn't be far off from what Hitler minded individuals wanted

Especially now bro...you got just as many minorities fighting in our military as whites....Gotta respect that

Anyone see this, from the washington post: (http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2007/01/14/AR2007011401026.html)

In a recent survey of college students on U.S. civic literacy, more than 81 percent knew that the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. was expressing hope for "racial justice and brotherhood" in his historic "I Have a Dream" speech.

That's the good news.

Most of the rest surveyed thought King was advocating the abolition of slavery.

Seriously???? These people are retarded.

Well..when I look at Individuals in this country and who actually made an impact for the better of this country, I would say Mr King would be at the top of that list. I hear people say he only did for black folks but in reality his works actually did more for all people including white folks when you look at it from a rightous and spiritual view.

just my 2 cents

I would ask...why are you sick of it? How is it really impacting you that you even notice it. You don't get your mail? The bank is closed? Are you really that inconvenienced by a day dedicated to the greatest black leader in American History? And before anyone goes citing Abraham Lincoln, better go reread your history books. Freedom for blacks was not his motivation.

Racist is a broad term...too broad of term really. I don't think your racist. I think your ignorant.

Regardless, I am cheering for you to continue success with your fat man walking.

Thanks pig but I already knew that about Columbus. My point is that MLK is much much much more deserving of a day than Columbus. I cannot think of anything that Columbus did that directly affected our country?
